With the cat now officially out the bag, we can now show you guys the Drift Kart we built for the new BBC Three Gassed Up show hosted by MOBO award-winning rapper Mist.

We filmed 6 episodes of behind-the-scenes footage of the build. This episode is just a quick introduction to the kid's electric Porsche toy car that Mist has chosen to compete in the Gymkhana challenge that we turn into a wide-bodied, motorbike engined, 5 speed, drift beast, that goes like a stabbed rat.

Following on from episode 1 of the BBC Three Gassed Up Drift Kart build, we sourced a rapid donor kart that came with an Aprilla motorbike engine with 50BHP more than enough to drift. We coupled that with a 5-speed box and then cut into the chassis to give the kart more steering lock to help it drift.

Next up Rich removed the toy car shell and started to cut into the panels and start the widening and stretching process to fit the over the kart chassis, watch as Olly walks you through the stages.

Following on from episode 2 of the BBC Three Gassed Up Drift Kart build, we felt it was only right to hire out Amering raceway to give the kart a proper shakedown, with a very special guest. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun and the kart run very well. Shame it didn't end well for our guest.

Back in early 2021, we were approached by the BBC to help build a couple of vehicles for a new BBC Three show called Gassed Up hosted by MOBO award-winning rapper Mist. Naturally, we jumped at the chance.

The first of the vehicles was going to be a Stretched Lincoln Limo that was to be converted into an apocalyptic off-road beast, to be pitted again Big Nasty in an epic off-road challenge. Watch all the behind the scenes footage as Mist and Ryan Taylor head to GBG HQ and check out the Limo.

The Porsche 914-6 with its flat 6 engine is a true classic of the automotive world. Built between 1969 and 1972, this iconic sports car was a joint venture between Porsche and Volkswagen, and it quickly became a favourite among driving enthusiasts.

We have partnered up with expert metal fabricator, Curzon Fabrication, who will be doing all the metalwork on this Porsche project. In this episode we introduce you to Jim the owner of Curzon Fabrication, who has started the strip down.

With the 914-6 shell stripped it was then transported over to Just Like New sandblasters by Brighton Recovery.

We capture the moment when they start to remove the underseal by heating it up with a blow torch and then scraping it off. We also go them to leave some bit un-blasted for this video so you can see the comparison. All in all the shell is looking pretty solid helped by the fact the car was imported from California.

We pick up the GBG Porsche Backdate project with the wheels and tyres finally on the car It was a great moment to finally get them on the car.

Olly also fires the Porsche up for the first time and talks us through the fitting of the AT Power Throttle bodies. Not only does this kit look like a work of art, it will also help push the Porsche along very nicely using the very latest modern tech.

To get the engine and throttle bodies completely dialed in, we took the GBG custom Porsche Backdate to Surrey Rolling Road where after about 3 hours of programming and testing we managed a very smooth 245 hp at the wheels which is pretty close to 300bhp at the flywheel. More than enough to push a 930kg car along nicely and smoothly. Big thanks to Chris and Charlie at Surrey Rolling Road for doing such a great job.

The Chevy 3100 pickup is a highly sought after classic American truck among collectors and enthusiasts. Its timeless design, reliable performance, and iconic status make it a popular choice for car shows and restoration projects.

Olly recently purchased this particular drag truck, having raced it for over 10 years with the previous owner Andy, who has decided to hang up his racing gloves. This Chevy 3100 is a serious bit of kit having been race prepped by Webster Engineering 10 years ago at the tune of £120k, however Olly would like to take it to the next level whilst also making it street legal.

With a 445 BHP engine secured from an 11-second car, this Renault 5 GT Turbo is going to be no slouch, but it's also going to be a looker. After a year break on the project, where Vas has been saving money, he has now bought all the parts to complete the project and the 5 is back at the shop.

After a bit of a break from the custom Renault 5 GT Turbo build due to some internal engine mods being done elsewhere, the car and engine are back at the shop where it’s full steam ahead. The engine is now in and this retro car project has really started to come together.

Being Porsche specialists Olly thought it would be rude not to turn to Porsche for his next custom streetcar project. However, we thought we had our work cut out when he arrived back at the shop with this Carrera 4s, that had ended up in a ditch after the previous owner lost control and was looking pretty beaten up. Oh well they say “one man’s loss is another man’s custom Porsche 997”

The plan from the start was to turn this 997 into a street custom with subtly flared arches, customs bumper, re-routed bespoke exhaust, and one-off paint. Also, we thought it would be pretty cool to chop up a 997 as it’s not very often you see them chopped and customised.
