1968 Chevy Camaro
Author: Nigel Bishop – Owner
I was into cars from a very early age, buying my first copy of Custom Car magazine at the age of 9 (I still have it!). Whether it was at car shows or on the TV, I was always drawn to American cars and specifically muscle cars however it was not until December 2014 that I really considered buying one.

A LIFE CHANGING MOMENT
Mary and I were in Auckland and a friend of a friend had a 1968 Camaro SS and he took me out in it and that was the life changing moment. The 1968 Camaro was always the year I wanted, the best shape and the SS had all the sports goodies. The one I really wanted though was the RS/ SS as it had the hideaway headlights which made the front of the car look so mean.

ORIGINAL EXPERIENCE
I wanted an original car, numbers matching and a 4 speed transmission. I wanted a car that had not been messed around with. I wanted to experience what it would have been like to drive the car in 1968, good and bad.

A BIG HEART
Driving the car now, I cannot think of anything bad. It is all about the 5.7 litre Chevy small block under the bonnet. Thanks to GBG for the excellent job they have done as now sitting behind the wheel, listening to the engine, knowing the power that’s there. It puts a smile on my face every time.
